Benjamin Urner, a printer in New York City, is regularly commissioned to prepare various price circulars for consigned agriculture goods by the many merchants buying and selling items as they flooded into the city from around the world.

Urner noted discrepancies in the circulars he was printing and realised the difficulty this caused for shippers trying to assimilate market appraisals. This led him to the idea of publishing a single, objective market report which he called the Producers’ Price-Current.

L. Frank Barry started the New York Daily Market Report, covering all produce markets, and became the first such daily publication in the country.

Benjamin Urner and L. Frank Barry realised the synergies between their companies and agreed a merger with the significant expansion of shared market reporting capabilities.

Urner Barry launches seafood market reporting.

Urner Barry’s first ever Executive Conference is held, an event that’s now the most widely attended and recognised marketing event in the poultry and egg industries and is still held every year in Las Vegas.

COMTELL, Urner Barry's digital information service launches, originally delivered via satellite.

The 'Yellow Sheet' (published since 1922) and covering red meat markets was purchased by Urner Barry.

As the French government stops setting ‘campaign prices’ for the grain markets, ex-Head of Grains Research at Louis Dreyfus, Andrée Defois sets up Stratégie grains to provide the information the market now needed to provide market transparency in grains and oilseeds.

COMTELL moves to the internet.

Feedinfo is established as a digital service to provide pricing, news and scientific information about the growing animal nutrition and feed additives industry.

Feedinfo launches its powerful industry marketing services arm, today known as Perspectives.

Stratégie grains starts covering biofuels.

AgriBriefing launched by seasoned business information specialists Rory Brown & Neil Thackray.

AgriBriefing acquires Urner Barry. Feedinfo launches the Feedinfo Summit and starts quoting prices for feed phosphates.

AgriBriefing launches the Women in Food and Agriculture (WFA) event, and Urner Barry launches a new Global Protein Summit event in Chicago.

The current versions of COMTELL and Feedinfo launch, featuring extensive redesigns and new usability features.

Feedinfo starts quoting minerals and COMTELL starts quoting UK beef prices.

AgriBriefing acquires Stratégie grains. A new COMTELL API is launched, and soon after an accompanying Excel add-on. Urner Barry starts covering plant proteins. Feedinfo provides separate China and US price quotes and launches Pro Services providing supply and demand data plus enhanced pricing features.

Urner Barry and Feedinfo become the first PRAs in their respective markets to achieve IOSCO regulatory compliance.

COMTELL adds freight and drought coverage and forecasting data is moved into the same interface. Feedinfo adds Brazil prices to its coverage and launches a customer API.
