Thanks to the combined efforts of generous sponsors, insightful presenters, an engaged audience, and a dedicated team of staff, the fourth annual Global Protein Summit was a resounding success. Assembling at the historic Drake Hotel in Chicago from October 17-19, 2022, Urner Barry, supported by parent company, AgriBriefing, brought together a diverse and collaborative community of professionals from across major protein sectors, providing a high-level view of key market drivers throughout the industry.

Learning from the top minds in economics, technology, sustainability, energy, and consumer trends, attendees took home actionable takeaways. With a focus on learning from the struggles of the past, adapting to the present, and stepping forward with confidence, the Global Protein Summit delivered the tools and insights necessary to accomplish all three in an increasingly challenging operating environment.

“Networking and intelligence, these two essential pillars of doing business, have perhaps never been more crucial than they are now. Especially in this day and age where we’re dealing with one of the most challenging and volatile periods in the history of modern food production,” explained Jamie Chadwick, Director of Editorial at Urner Barry and the event’s chairperson.

Experts across the industry gathered to discuss the most impactful market drivers with speakers from Amazon, World Bank, Port of Los Angeles, U.S.-China Business Council, Cracker Barrel, IRI, National Pork Producers Council, and National Fisheries Institute to name a few, as well as Urner Barry market experts and analysts leading the protein breakout sessions. Fan favorites, Angel Rubio and Andrei Rjedkin, from the Urner Barry Consulting division, worked to ensure attendees were prepared for the coming months explaining where the protein markets are headed in the short and long term with their forecasting models.

Hearing from Global Protein Summit attendees, Todd Thurman from SwineTex stated “This has quickly become one of my favorite events of the year. It’s such an interesting mix of people from across the protein industry that you don’t see very often. The value of networking and content is unparalleled.”
